Dot dot dot...

Today was a day for celebration! It was -6°C outside! Winnipegers consider weather like this, summer. I must have seen 10 people on the street wearing shorts and t-shirts....That's all.

On the street: Diane Dns

This girl's proof that you can still look good in minus 40° weather. Diane studied fashion in Vancouver and is now here to further her career. I bumped into her during one of my midnight grocery shops (I have all the time in the world to go shopping during normal hours and I choose to go at midnight...I know) I love Diane's bow headband turban and sheepskin waterfall style jacket. I've always thought these coats looked outdated. Probably because it was never styled just right. But she makes it look sooo good. She's convinced me. I think this is gonna be my next buy. Thanks Diane and good luck with all your future endeavours!

On the street: Kendra

Every once in a while approaching someone can be a bit awkward. Just because you never know just what their reaction will be, and it seems like everytime I spot someone for one of these posts I never have a piece of paper or a writing utensil to get their info. So I'm always scrummaging through purse pulling out pieces of old receipts, just anything to write on. Quite embrassing! I think I need a business card.
Carrying on. I spotted this girl shopping with her friend at Joe. I was drawn to her long trench, fringe bag, and the pop of color earrings. She looked quite effortless. Thanks Kendra!

Winter :(

I think if I were to never see snow again I would be just fine. Even though I've lived here all my life I'm really starting to hate this minus 40 weather. I love my sweet, sweet summers (I'm sorry, random trail of thought)
Now I'm not too sure what look I was going for here? It's like a mix between a cozy granny with the oversized sweater and pants thrown in with a dash of sessi vixen with the bralette. Either way I still kinda like it. The best part about this look is my pants! Imma still be rocking these baby's when I'm 80 yrs old!

8 FASHION RULES EDITORS LIVE BY

I found this article in the April 2011 issue of Cosmopolitan. Even thought it's 2012, I don't see these trends going anywhere. I'm loving now and I thought that I would share them with you.

RULE 1 Go Big
If you're wearing an eye-grabbing accessory (like an animal-print scarf), let it take center stage by pairing it with understated items.

RULE 2 Think like a stylist
Figure out what look-preppy, mod, beachy is most you, and make it your signature.
RULE 3 Finish it off
The fastest, easiest way to pull any ensemble together. Cinch a belt around your waist.

RULE 4 Blend in (Just a little)
Rocking a print? Be sure the rest of you clothing picks up one of the colors in the pattern.
RULE 5 Get tough
Paring something edgy (a leather jacket) with something feminine (a floral top) always feels fashion-forward.
Studded Denim, Topshop Floral Dress, Aldo Leather Wedge
RULE 6 Love arm candy
A statement-making bag will instantly take whatever your're wearing to the next level.
Jacket From Romwe.Com, Top From Romwe, Bag From H&M
RULE 7 Be Shady
When putting colors together, combine two brights or two pastels-not a bright and a pastel.
RULE 8 Mix basic and blingy
To avoid looking over-the-top, tone down a super dressy skirt with a classic shirt.

2011? So last year!

Hey all! How was your Christmas? New Years? Was Santa good to you? Sorry for skipping out on ya'll during the holidays. To be honest. I have no excuse. But Imma ring in the new year with a whole heap load of things. I have to, it's on my list of new years resolutions ;)
This is what I wore out with my girlfriends over the weekend. Didn't realize just how shiny these tights were lol.

Let's talk about Lips

Lately I've been wanting to add a new item to my make-up bag. Lipstick. Seeing how I'm new to this I thought I should try out a few different shades from palest nudes to the darkest brights. But I didn't want to break the bank doing so. So I went to my local beauty supply store "Sally's" and pick up $6 worth of their mini lipsticks.
Below are the 6 shades that I picked out. Hopefully this inspires you to be adventurous and try some fun bright lipsticks.

MANIC
This lipstick came out looking a lot frostier on my lips then it appeared in the tube. It's the kinda shade that looks great paired with a dark smoky eye.

UNITY
Now I think this one just might be my favourite. This pinky/nude shade is tame enough to wear day to day. And gives the final touch to that fresh faced look.

Okay, this vibrant pink is so fun! Right?! Great for pairing with bright coloured items of clothing, like a royal blues or yellows. But I would suggest minimal make-up on every other part of your face, When you got lips like this who needs all the extra?

HOLIDAY RED
All though the boy thinks this colour looks horrendous on me, I quite like it. I wore this shade to school the other day with some blue jeans and a knit sweater. Taming this colour down with comfy clothes makes this shade seem not so scary. And for my brown sistas out there give this colour a whirl, you just might like it.

BRUNT ORANGE
And last but not least.... BOOM! ↑ When I first laid eyes upon this sucker I knew I had to get it. Just don't ask me how or where I'm going to wear this.

So how bout it? What shades are you willing to try? Happy lipstick shopping!
